Selection - Living Like the Blue Sky

from Be Honest with Yourself
Page: 3/3

Because we are still in transition, we continue to face pains and uncomfortable experiences. As I often say, these pains and discomforts are manifesting in order to fade away and disappear. They are like the shavings that come off when you chisel away at a piece of wood. Therefore, what I recommend is to fling them into a prayer for world peace. As you continually fling them into your prayers one after another, before long, those shavings will be cleared away and only a beautiful Kannon statue will remain. This is what I am always teaching.
Among people of spiritual faith, there are many who delude and deceive themselves. They talk as though they can do things which they are actually incapable of putting into practice. We cannot do what we are incapable of; we can only do what we are capable of. I say this in no uncertain terms. It confuses people to tell them that they can do something that they are actually incapable of doing. This kind of teaching leads people to become hypocritical without their knowing it. Therefore, we need to say honestly that there are things we are capable of, and things we cannot do. But in time, we will gradually be able to put into practice things that we are not capable of doing now. This is why I say, let's do our best! If we give it our all, we will soon be able to do it!
At present, the world is not at peace, and yet, even though it is not at peace, God has revealed to me that a peaceful world is in our future. Therefore, let us pray earnestly for world peace, so that peace may come about even one day sooner, so that people may suffer as little harm as possible, and so that a world without war may emerge.
If others say to you, "Praying for world peace won't help you, nor can it make the world peaceful," you can simply smile and reply: "You are free to think that way, but I believe that peace will come, and so I have made up my mind to pray for world peace. Isn't it better to pray for peace and the happiness of humanity than to do nothing? That's why I am doing this. A lot of people out there are doing the same thing." Then, the other person might feel a bit taken aback, and they might start to see you as quite an extraordinary person, after all.
Please try not to be swayed by what others may say. There is no doubt that praying for world peace will bring about peace on earth. Indeed, it is the only thing that can bring about peace.
As the prayer goes, May peace prevail on Earth. If everyone thinks this way, our wishes will be realized. If we pray from the bottom of our heart for peace throughout the world, then peace is sure to come about. God has promised us that it will, and so I can say without a doubt: peace will absolutely come to this world.
