Selection - The Principle of Effect and Cause

From future to present to past
(excerpt from chapter 1)
Page: 3/3

Under this principle, time flows from the future to the present. Therefore, if we take every opportunity, every single day, to throw leaves of hope—tens, hundreds, thousands of leaves—into the future, some of these leaves are sure to appear before us and come true. If we take this present moment to clearly depict in our mind the hopes and plans that will make our life ever more radiant—if we repeat to ourselves over and over, It’s absolutely all right! I can definitely do it! Everything is possible! Everything is perfect! Everything has been perfectly accomplished!—our positive words and thoughts will indeed manifest in our life.
Because our life flows from the future to the present, and from the present to the past, the things that we think and say over and over again about the future will eventually make their way to the present and come true. As we keep sending forth our future hopes and dreams again and again, one by one, they will flow down to the present, and the moment will surely come when we can catch hold of these leaves—the hope-filled visions that we threw into the future. This is the principle of effect and cause. Up to now, most of us have been working to improve our lives by identifying the causes generated in the past, digging up the unwanted seeds one by one and getting rid of them. With this method, it was very difficult to achieve our goals, because our consciousness was focused on what was downstream—the negative causes from the past. But when we change our way of thinking to the principle of effect and cause, elevating our consciousness by looking toward the future (upstream) without being bound by or lamenting what happened in the past, we awaken the wonderful qualities that reside within us, and turn our lives in a better direction.
